EXTENSION ACTIVITIES
a) Banner programme
on Extension Management:-
A five days
seminar on Extension Management sponsored jointly by MANAGE Hyderabad and SIRD
Kerala was organised jointly by Department of Agriculture and Krishi
Vigyan Kendra, Lakshadweep during the period 15th to 19th May, 2000.
Total participation was 35 persons. From the feed back from the
participants, assessment is one of the best programme so far organised.
This programme has helped officers and Panchayat fuctioneries to learn various Extension
methods and grass root level planning techniques.
b)
Demonstration cum production Campaign
Demonstration
cum production Campaign based on ongoing schemes of Village Dweep Panchayat,
Kadmat was organised during the period 22nd November - 4th
December, 1999. This programme was carried out with the total
participation of KVK staff, covering entire island of Kadmat.
c)
Training Programme on Participatory Training Methods:
Training
Programme on Participatory training methods was conducted at Kalpeni from
05.05.2001 to 10.05.2001 for the officers of Agriculture Department,
Lakshadweep and the District and Village Dweep Panchayat members Kalpeni.
The training
was organised in collaboration with Extension Education Institute, ANGR,
Agricultural University, Hyderabad. The training was
organised with the following objectives.
1. To refresh
the knowledge of the participants on the process of training and use of
simple visual aids.
2. To
create awareness and understanding among participants about
different training methods.
3. To develop
the skills in participants designing and use of different training
Method.
4. To
enable the participants to develop individual action plans for
using the Training methods at back home situation.
d)
Campaign on Drug and Alcohol Abuse:-
In
collaboration with Sunni Students Federation of India, Kiltan Unit a year
long campaign on drug and alcohol abuse campaign was organized on 24th August
2002.
e) Land Resource
Conservation Week:
Land resource
conservation week was celebrated in collaboration with Agricultural
Demonstration Unit Kiltan from 04.02.2002 to 11.02.2002. 60 farmers
participated for the programme apart from staff of Demonstration Unit and KVK.
Heads of institutions at Kiltan also participated.

discussed at length by experts for the benefit of the farmers and the public
are:

of conservation.
> Conservation
strategies.
> Introduction
of inter cultivation and multi cropping
to increase
unit area production to make farming viable.
> Need of
adopting organic farming.
